Lake One Canoe Rentals is the starting point of the most popular canoe routes in the BWCAW- Superior National Forest.  The lake is 876 acres in area with many islands and bays, which enhances its beauty.  It has four inlets and two outlets, and its shoreline is approximately 90 % rock with the remaining 10% sand and gravel.  Tree coverage is filled with Jack Pine, Birch, Aspen, and intermixed White Pine and Norway Pine.  There is a great chance you'll encounter Minnesota's enchanted wildlife as well.  Moose, deer, bear, timber-wolves, osprey, bald eagles and loons are among the most popular!  In July of 2008 we had very active wolf pups playing around on the resort roads at night!!!  In July 2009 we had a moose and her calf hanging out near the public access, just a 10 minute paddle from the resort.  Most resort guests had a chance to see them!

We are located on Lake One, BWCAW- Superior National Forest entry point 30, 22 miles East of Ely on Fernberg Road.

The Ojibway word "Kawishiwi" means 'river full of beaver or muskrat houses'.

We are a Cooperator with the USDA Forest Service under the Superior National Forest. We issue permits into the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCAW),
part of the National Wilderness Preservation System. To preserve the wilderness, visitors to the BWCAW must follow certain regulations.
